Pazhassi Raja postponed
The release of Malayalam cinema’s magnum opus, the historical, Pazhassi Raja has been postponed from the October 2nd Weekend indefinitely.
Starring superstar Mammootty in the lead role, the movie ran into last minute hitches. Sources say that director Hariharan, a known perfectionist, wanted some colour corrections to be made after the DI work. Most probably, Pazhassi Raja would hit screens next Friday (October 9) or during Diwali weekend (October 16).
Being made in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, Pazhassi Raja is produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Gokulam Films. Scripted by legendary M.T. Vasudevan Nair, it has Mammootty playing the title role of legendary ruler and warrior Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja. Popular Tamil-Telugu actor Suman plays the villain, Pazhaiveetan Chandu and Tamil actor Sarathkumar plays Edachena Kunkan, the chief lieutenant of Pazhassi Raja. Kanihaa and Padmapriya are the heroines.
The movie is also being hyped as the prologue to the movie in various languages is being done by various superstars. Shah Rukh Khan has dubbed the prologue of the Hindi version of this multi-lingual film.
Praveen VC, Executive Producer of the movie says, “Shah Rukh comes from the family of freedom fighters and feels happy to be associated with such project.”
The Tamil prologue of the movie was also given its due worth when superstar Kamal Hassan dubbed the prologue. The Malayalam original has Mohanlal introducing ‘Pazhassi Raja‘ to the audiences through a 45-second prologue, Praveen said.
