The Slumdog Millionaire couple Freida Pinto and Dev Patel was at Mumbai for Christmas, which they spent with the Pintos

According to a source, ‘Freida and Dev are international celebrities, and are hounded by the paparazzi wherever they go. They wanted to spend a quiet, private Christmas, which is why they made a quick trip to India. They also coupled it with Dev meeting Freida’s parents at their home in suburban Mumbai.’

He adds, ‘Dev’s mom already knows about them and has confirmed their relationship in the past. Dev stays in London, so it is easy for him to fly home. Freida is based out of New York and LA now, and finds it difficult to fly to India often. Dev’s friends accompanied him on this trip. Freida introduced Dev to her parents and relatives and the entire group partied in Mumbai.’

The source tells us, ‘The couple was seen at Hawaiian Shack (a popular bar in Bandra, suburban Mumbai) on last Wednesday. They entered at 11.30 pm and left at 1.30. They kept a low profile, keeping to themselves in a corner, unwilling to pose for photographs. The management played Paper Planes from Slumdog Millionaire for them.’

Freida, 24, and Dev, 18, have been dating since late 2008. She was engaged to Rohan Antao, a publicist, but ditched him for an international career in showbiz. Rumours about Dev and Freida also led to the breakdown of their relationship. Dev and Freida have been snapped by paparazzi in the US quite often and make red carpet appearances together.

Freida will be seen in Julian Schnabel’s Miral and Woody Allen’s film, while Dev will be seen in M. Night Shyamalan’s sci-fi flick. They are not allowed to talk to the Indian media, making them unavailable for comment.
