Pi - an Indian book Reader

We now have an Indian book reader that will compete with its well known foreign competitors like the Kindle. Infibeam.com has introduced its own e-book reader called the Pi. Inifibeam.com has been launched by an Indian techie Vishal Mehta who has left a plum job in the Silicon Valley for launching a retailing venture in India.

The Pi is well suited to Indian readers. The CEO of Infibeam.com Mr Vishal Mehta says “Some of the books that sell in the West may not sell in India,”. The e-book store of Infibeam.com offers books from publishers like HarperCollins, Penguin, Random House, and John Wiley and Sons.

The Pi is 10 mm thick and weighs 180 gms. It has a 6 inch E ink display. It can store about 550 books in various e-book formats. The reader is said to have been assembled at an undisclosed location. The cost of the Pi is Rs 9999. It can be booked by paying Rs 999 and will be shipped from February 22.
