Samsung to launch its own operating system – Bada
Maker of some of the finest mobile handsets and Korean electronics giant, Samsung will be launching its own operating system called Bada very soon. Bada means Ocean in Korean. Presently Samsung mobile phones run on Windows, Symbian and Android platforms.
“We will focus more on open OS mobiles and will launch a new range of handsets with our own OS soon,” Ranjit Yadav, director (mobile and IT) of Samsung India, said on Wednesday.
Another area where the company was looking to consolidate is the Dual SIM phone market. Samsung will be launching six new models with dual SIM phones. The plan is to improve its market share from the existing 7 to 8 percent to 16 percent. This segment is one of the fastest growing segments in the mobile phone industry where users were looking to work on two separate networks to segregate their private and professional lives. Samsung also plans to launch two GSM-CDMA handsets.
Samsung is also hosting a Java Applications Store on the Samsung Fan Club. With its Bada platform Samsung is looking forward to work with Indian users who will customize apps using the platform.
