Airtel has managed to achieve good amount of market share and penetration in the broadband market.

Readers may recollect the low cost net PC launched by Novatium last year. Bharti Airtel has now launched a low cost net PC on similar lines. The Airtel Net PC is being marketed in Airtel and Next stores for a cost of Rs7,999.

As Internet penetration gets more stronger and is reaching out to more segments of society the biggest Public Sector Telecom Service Provider, BSNL is planning to attract more than 7.5 million broadband subscribers.

In a major move to increase India’s Internet density, Govt. of India is funding a project, namely Rural Broadband Project, to provide fast broadband Internet connection to all Gram Panchayats (GPs) by 2012, said A. Raja, Union IT and Communications Minister.

The race for capturing revenue in the ISP section is gradually warming up in India. Ideally the service provider should provide all the three services, telephone, cable TV and the internet. However due to a technological gap all the three areas have progressed in a non linear fashion.
